What Is An Interventionist?

An interventionist is someone who is trained in addiction and knows a lot about addiction and the different types of addicts that are out there. They have firsthand experience in interventions and usually an interventionist is brought in by family and friends or coworkers to help talk to the addict about their addiction problem and get them to go to rehab. Usually, families have trouble staying unbiased and keeping their emotions in check. The addict can start to say and do things that are hurtful and that can throw an intervention off course. An interventionist can bring it back on course.

Drug Intervention: When You Are Asked To Participate

When it comes to a drug intervention being asked to participate can bring a mix of emotions to a friend or loved one of an addict. It might surprise you to find out that sometimes the person closest to the addict (spouse or significant other) doesn’t want to participate in the intervention. They either think that they addict is okay and people are overreacting or they’re afraid of the outcome. Sometimes they are dependent on the addict being dependent of them.
