Sober Champions: Why A Sober Buddy WorksSober Champions: You Need Strength In Your CornerWhen you get sober sometimes the hardest times are when you go back into your life and figuring out how to do it all without drugs or alcohol. If you are someone who was in a codependent relationship with another addict before you went to rehab then it can be difficult to come out of rehab and be strong enough not to engage with that person anymore but still find the strength to stay sober without that crutch of that relationship. A sober companion doesn’t just act as someone who is there as a support system to make sure you don’t drink and do drugs but they also act as sober champions for addicts because you need someone there who is cheering you onto to do great things that do not involve drugs or alcohol. We all need positive reinforcement in our lives so it makes sense that a person just getting out of rehab would need that more than people who don’t have a drug or alcohol problem but still need to know they can achieve greatness. Sober Buddy: Needing A Friend That Is SoberWhen it comes to sobriety sometimes an addict needs to trim the fat. Chances are if you were getting high or abusing alcohol prior to going to rehab that they people that you were surrounding yourself with, your so called “friends” were and are also users. Now you are out and you are clean but you can’t dip back into that pool of people and yet you aren’t strong enough yet to be alone with your sobriety. A sober buddy is a great way to make the transition from rehab back into normal life. Sometimes we just need someone to go to dinner with us or a movie that is going to make sure we don’t derail to the nearest bar or party. |
