Some recovering addicts might be skeptical of sober support. They want to be able to go back to life as they know it with the friends that they have and not feeling like an alcohol or drug monitor is leaning over their shoulder. That’s not what sober support is about. Sober support means having a support system set up of friends, colleagues and professionals who are there for you and who can sometimes recognize the signs that you may slip before you even do.

Sober Buddies: When You Need To Go To An Alcohol Infused Event

There are a lot of events that people need to go to whether it’s for work or for pleasure that involve alcohol. Hopefully, there are not events that involve illegal substances but we know that there are always people that will bring drugs into a party environment. If you are someone who is recently sober and it’s part of your career that you go to a party or an event that involves alcohol bringing sober buddies with you who are there to help you stay strong and not take a drink can really help. Recovering alcoholics and people that work in rehabs and intervention services know that sometimes you are around a lot of people that are drinking and you for a split second think that you can handle one drink and then you fall.

A Sober Coach: Someone To Get You Through The First Year After Rehab

Not everyone comes out of rehab a fully recovered, fully functioning sober person. Some people need that extra help that first year. For example, if you are a recently divorced mother who just got out of rehab and just got her children back part-time having that sober coach there to guide you during the difficult parts of parenting, like re-introducing yourself into your children’s lives when they might be unhappy with you.
