According to a
study released today by the Partnership for a Drug-Free American and
MetLife Foundation, drug and alcohol abuse among teens was up in 2009
for the first time in ten years.
The results show the amount of
teens who used alcohol in the past month has grown by 11-percent. Past
year ecstasy use shows a 67-percent increase and past year marijuana
use shows a 19-percent increase.
Both police and a substance abuse therapist 9&10 News talked to today say parents should get involved in this situation.
They suggest asking kids about drug and alcohol use, or even searching through their things if you become suspicious.
